The Balkan factory
was established in 1947 originating from an old workshop
for aniline dyes and shoe polishing grease manufacturing
at the Danube Station location while the later new facilities
were built in 1969 in the industrial part of Belgrade where
it is still situated today.
In its first stage the factory
was modernised and widened introducing new technologies
for the production of shoe Polish, furniture and floor polishes,
car cosmetics, glues based on starch and organic solvents.
In the age of economic integrations
in 1973 Balkan was associated with the company "PRVA
ISKRA” - Barič and remained with them until 1985. During
that time the plant for the production of self-adhesive
tapes was built and the production facilities were installed
according to the Tessa Beiersdorf licence, employing 450
workers.
Later in 1989 BALKAN was
associated with the GRMEČ and remained there as a production
plant until 2001. Within this business system it also acquired
the JUS.ISO.9002 Certificate.
Reorganizing the GRMEČ Business
System in December 2001 BALKAN d.o.o. was separated from
the system as a daughter company and later in December 2003
sold to AERO d.d. as a production plant and AERO, d.d. daughter
